Habitat Control

Range enhancement will provide food and cover for a number of animal species.

We plan to reseed native range plants in the areas previously used for hay production.

Every Autumn after bird breeding season, grassland areas will be strip mowed, leaving 2/3rds in tall grasses for cover and 1/3rd cut shorter for easy foraging.  Different areas will be mowed each year.  These strips will be reseeded with native grasses and wildflowers.

Because of the predatory effect of Imported Red Fire Ants on wildlife populations, fire ant bait will also be applied to infested areas of the range, in the Fall and again in Spring.
